Communications, Marketing & Design
In the early 90s I spent a great deal of time procrastinating. I was supposed to be writing my doctoral dissertation, but in dry writing spells, I found myself doing “very important work” like learning about fonts and typography so my finished dissertation would look great on the page.
I taught myself page layout, long document management, and all kinds of new (then) computer techniques for managing and manipulating printed information.
Pagemaker, Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, and later Dreamweaver were all “vital,” somehow, to my research and writing about Bertolt Brecht.
Perhaps not.
But because I had the tools and a designer’s eye, when it came time to run theatres and sell shows, I was prepared to do the job.
I have been designing ads, flyers, postcards, brochures and more for 20 years with great success. For most of my tenure at SteppingStone Theatre, I designed and produced nearly all of the printed materials that were seen by the public.
I know how to ensure that a great concept becomes a great physical piece. I know how to work with digital output to ensure there are no surprises from screen to press.
And my strong copy-writing skills help to make every piece come to life.
I’ve written and voiced spots for radio as well, winning an Achievement in Radio Award in San Diego for a spot I created for Triple Espresso.
